Ohio group that celebrated vote fraud pushing for same day registration and voting

A group of Ohio Democrats is circulating petitions across the state for a constitutional amendment they are calling the “Voters Bill of Rights”. This group revealed their true intentions about voting integrity when it invited a convicted vote felon up on stage and applauded her at their kickoff event. What they are really pushing for is the return of same day voter registration and voting in Ohio.

Ohio lawmakers recently eliminated what was know as “Golden Week”, which was a period of early voting where one could register to vote and then cast a ballot on the very same day. This practice hampers boards of elections ability to vet potential voters before they are allowed to vote. Even though Ohio Democrats voted to reduce early voting days and eliminate Golden Week in 2009 (the bill died), they screamed “voter suppression” when Republicans passed a similar measure this year.

Their “Voters Bill of Rights” amendment is their plan to get Golden Week back. On the night they kicked off their signature drive, they brought Melowese Richardson, convicted of casting multiple ballots for herself and even voting in the names of her granddaughter and comatose sister, up on to the stage and applauded her as a hero.

State Representative Alicia Reece has been one of the most public supporters of the proposed amendment to bring back same day registration and voting. One doesn’t have to wonder why, as you can see her applauding Richardson in the photo below as Al Sharpton hugs her on stage.

Voters have abused same day registration and voting in the past by casting multiple ballots, such as what happened in Wisconsin in 2012. The recent reforms in Ohio to eliminate Golden Week still leaves 29 days of early voting in the Buckeye State, more than any of its neighbors. With the ability to vote by mail for a month, Ohio will remain one of the easiest states in the union to vote in. Citizens should decline to sign the petition if asked.
