Knowing that Fitzgerald didn’t have a driver’s license at that time, I submitted a public records request to Lakewood Law Director Kevin Butler asking if Fitzgerald had driven a city car at this time. Butler promptly responded that the city believes Fitzgerald didn’t start driving a city car until July 2009.
I also asked for Fitzgerald’s key card swipes for the City’s garage for July 2008.
It appears that Mayor Fitzgerald was in and out of the City garage quite frequently that month. Clearly he was driving, but did he have a licensed driver with him or was he breaking the law?
At this point, it seems the Ohio Democratic Party was negligent in vetting their gubernatorial nominee. Maybe they can recruit their 2018 nominee from the line at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
